First Night as a New Taxi Driver

I passed all my tests to become a taxi driver. It took a long time, 4 years to be exact, but it was worth it. As a friend said, 'the transition is difficult, but after you start driving, it becomes easier'.

I've got everything done, but it was difficult, as my friend said, and after spending up to £5,000 it has emerged that the radio that was fitted in my car is faulty. No work for a night. The boss agreed to give me the first week free which will help me to get a head start if i'm lucky.

The first night was a challenge. I was driving around different areas of the locality trying out the different zones to see what work becomes available. Apparently i was in the wrong plot so i moved to another one. I then decided to click on the bidding screen to get work and two came up. Before i could press the screen the jobs disappeared. I kept clicking on the screen hoping something will come up after one hour of no work. It was a weekday by the way because i decided to get some practice in before the weekend as it can get really busy and i have to prepare for it.

while waiting in the car with the bidding screen on, as i was testing the data head (the thing that gives you jobs) out, i noticed a job come up. I quickly pressed it and after accepting the job i realised it was an account job. I didn't know what to think. I was told that account jobs don't pay very well. Oh well, at least it's a job and i'll still get paid for it. I had to drive 2 miles to pick the passenger up and drop them off 3 miles down the road. It was a rewarding experience.

After i dropped the first passenger off i got another job straight away. That felt cool! This second job was easy so i sped off, picked the guy up and dropped him off! As soon as i dropped him off i switched the radio off and drove off home!

The first night of being a taxi driver was surprisingly rewarding. Especially with the fact that i was helping people go from one place to another. It seems like it's my kind of job! Well, for the weekend anyway.

I have got to put in a lot of hours if i am to make the money spent back. I spent over the odds because i bought my own car. It wasn't expensive but it's just about right.

If i am patient and persistent and work hard then i may be successful!
